Sara Horishnyk has a Music Business Degree with an emphasis on performance from Augsburg College. Sara began playing drums back in 1998 with the introduction to her middle school jazz ensemble. Jazz has always been her main focus. She has studied her craft of percussion from an esteemed list of musicians including Marv Dahlgren, Doug Little, Kevin Washington, Jeff Bailey, Anthony Cox, Bob Stacke and Pete Henning. She credits her teachers and mentors for encouraging her dedication and passion for creating and performing music.
Sara has secured a spot in the twin cities music scene. In 2006 she formed the jazz group, Bigbody Applehead and performed at a number of local jazz clubs including The Dakota in downtown Minneapolis. Recently adding more folk and indie rock to her repitoire, you can now see Sara with one of her many up and coming bands; The Johnson Twins, Bethany Larson and the Bees Knees and Canon Chorus. With these groups she has performed at the Fine Line, Hell’s Kitchen, the Artists Quarter and more.
